Every now and then its ok to have some fast food, but then made with love and good ingredients. I love to take classic fast food and turn it in to culinary magic. You guys know I have mad love for burgers right? If not, check out my post about the Beef Chief  here or check out my recipes for a classic 5 Napkin Burger or a Chipotle burger here. Today however, we are not talking about burgers, but we are talking Haute Dogs aka Hot Dogs!

It all started with Foodie friend S having these amazing Brandt & Levie hot dog sausages in her fridge, because lets say she has friends in high places. They were not for sale at that time, but the moment they were I went off to Marqt and bought me some Sausage Magic from Brandt & Levie. Read more about Brandt & Levie here.

I will preach one more time, sorry if it sounds like here she goes again, but the moment you use high quality products that were made with love, this will not disappoint you. Same goes for this recipe with these hot dogs.

Recipe for haute dogs aka hot dogs Culinessa style

Ingredients
4 hot dog sausages (I used the Brandt & Levie ones)
Hot dog buns
Sauerkraut
2 onions medium sized – finely chopped
1 tsp of sweet balsamic vinegar
6 bacon strips (about 100 gr)
3 TBsp Mayonnaise
2 tsp Mosterd
Fried onions
Sri racha sauce – to your liking
Olive oil

Method
Boil the hot dog sausages according to the instructions.
Heat up a pan and drizzle with a little bit of olive oil. Now caramelize your sausages. After cooking this will take about a minute or 5.
At the same time cook the sauerkraut according to the instructions.
In a pan, fry your bacon strips without oil.
Caramalize your onions in a pan with 1 table spoon of olive oil and keep stirring for about 10 minutes on low heat. The final minute when they are almost done caramelizing, add in the balsamic vinegar and mix well.
In a bowl, add in mayonnaise and mustard and mix well.
Cut up your hot dog buns.
Start assembling your hot dog with some caramelized onions, bacon, sauer kraut, mustard mayo, fried onions, drizzle with Sri Racha sauce and eat away!

Thats it, it was that simple..now tell me how delicious was this Haute dog?
