When east meets west you sometimes get masterpieces. Thats what this recipe is all about. With the whole pregnancy diabetes thing going on, there’s been a little drama, but gladly not a lot. I’ve still managed to eat as yummy as I used to, and thats just how I tend to keep it. Of course now I need to balance stuff more, but me and my love for burgers is something for a life time. I am and always will be a hamburger babe! Hahahah

I made Bun Cha, a vietnamese salad with little grilled meat patties, a while a go. And as I was preparing everything during lunch, I asked the BF if he was up for a little snack. We’d just bought some mini brioche buns and I’d come up with a masterpiece! Gladly he said yess and I whipped him up a little burger using the meat for the meat patties.

After tasting one, he said can I have one more please? “Nes, this is how an Asian burger should taste like” <<Y E A H, score!>>⋅I shared it on Instagram (@Culinessa) and as it was very popular, I promised to share it on the blog too. It took a while, but here it is!

ecipe for a Vietnamese burger Culinessa style

Ingredients
4 Hamburger brioche buns
Hamburgers

Green part of 6 spring onions
Koriander leafs of 6 sprigs
4 lettuce leafs
Hamburger sauce

For the hamburger patty
600 gr half ground beef half ground pork
3 tsp fish sauce (you can also use salt)
3/4 tsp black pepper
3 tsp sugar
4 small shallots
White part of 8 spring onions
2 small cloves of garlic
Olive oil

Hamburger sauce
4 TBsp Mayonnaise (I use Hellmanns Real)
1 clove of garlic
1/2 chili pepper
2 TBsp sugar
3 TBsp lime juice
1 TBsp Fish sauce

Method
Start by making the hamburger sauce.
Oh and if you love sauce, you might want to make a double batch.
In a pestle and mortar, start by pounding garlic, sugar and chili till they are mashed.
In another bowl, add in the “chili paste” and mix with the rest of the ingredients till you get a nice smooth sauce.
Finely chop up the white part of the spring onions and shallots.
Add them to a bowl together with the ground meat and the rest of the ingredients.
Mix wel and divide them in to 4 hamburger patties.
Gently rub some olive oil on them and put aside.
Heat up a grill pan till its nice and hot. Lower the fire and place the patties on the grill.
Grill each burger for about 4 minutes per side till medium done.
Grill the brioche buns and garnish with a lettuce leaf, the sauce, hamburger, green part of the spring onion and coriander.
Serve some extra sauce on the side.
