Apple Oatmeal Crumble
Now that its winter, I believe that this weather calls for comfort food, also for wintery desserts, like a crumble. My memories of eating apple crumble go back to the times when I was still working at the big G and the chef would spoil us with amazing desserts. I enjoyed it so much and the vanilla custard he would serve it with was to die for. I just couldn’t get it out of my mind and when my mom and sis came over for dinner the other night, I decided I would be making this as a dessert. I put a little twist to it, by using Quaker Oats Express cinnamon and taraa my Apple oatmeal crumble was born. You can serve this with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream or even whipped cream or a classic vanilla custard. I chose to serve mine with whipped cream. Delish and it always keeps you wanting more. Good to know, I made this recipe to be not too sweet, but if you want you can omit the sugar in the “crumble” part completely as the Quaker Oats Express cinnamon contains some sugar already.
Recipe for Apple Oatmeal crumble
30 gr quick oats ( I used 1 package of Oats Express Cinnamon)
30 gr almond flower
2 TBsp whole wheat flower
20 gr sugar
Pinch of salt
50 gr butter
1 TBsp water
1 TBsp sugar
1/2 tsp of cinnamon
Remove the skin from the apple an cut it up in to cubes.
Set aside in a bowl and add1 TBsp water, 1 TBsp sugar and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon.
In another bowl, combine oats, almond flower, whole wheat flower, sugar, salt and bater and massage
everything and let it slide through your fingers, creating “crumbs”.
Some crumbs will be bigger than others, but thats perfectly fine.
In a little cast iron pan (12 cm diameter), add in your apple mixture and put the “crumb” mixture on top.
Bake in about 20 – 30 minutes on 150 C (Convection oven) till your crumble turns out golden brown.
Cool off and serve with some whipped cream.
