Today I want to tell you guys about Eetwinkel Geniet. Not because its new, but because they are celebrating their 5th year anniversary! At the bottom of the page more info on the cool give away.

About two weeks ago, I was invited to come and have lunch. It turned out to be a little lunch party. We got welcomed by host Melle and he seated us right in front of the kitchen. Perfect spot.

Melle, who together with chef Jeordy, owns the place gave us a short introduction about the Eetwinkel. With pride he explained to us that the Eetwinkel Geniet stands for good and fresh food, where they try to prepare everything themselves and work with local produce. A nice balance between healthy and yummy food, but ofcourse you can eat a divine cheesecake from chef Jeordy. You can have breakfast with home made Granola and during lunch they serve tasty salads, sandwiches, pasta and lots of sweets. The bread they use is made by Handgemaakt Brood. IMG 6347 e1412586433696 1024x1024 - Spoiled at Eetwinkel Geniet + Win a lunch for twoIMG 6393 1024x1024 - Spoiled at Eetwinkel Geniet + Win a lunch for two
Because of their 5 year anniversary they gave the Eetwinkel a little make over and introduced a new menu. We had the “tough” task to come and taste it all; what a life he! I sure did not mind. First up was a little tasting of the salads they serve. After that we got some smoothies made with spinach, avocado, mango, banana, lemon juice and rice milk. We wanted to taste more! The salads we got to taste were a quinoa salad, salmon salad and an organic chicken salad with kamut pasta. The winner for me and the BF was the salad with salmon (which is smoked by chef Jeordy at home) marinated in mango vinegar. The quinoa salad I am fan of too and oh the farmers cheese sandwich with an avocado mousse a favorite of mine. The BF was a big fan of the salmon sandwich with a beet horseradish compote. It was all finger licking good and we washed it all down with some soda’s. Really liked the Luscombe Elderflower and Gingerbeer.

I was almost stuffed, but while entering the shop I’d seen all of the yummy sweets that they sell. I hoped we would get a little taste of each, especially because Jeordy’s cheesecake is notorious. While sipping on some tea or coffee we got a taste of the brownies, apple tart and <score!> the cheesecake. YUMM! We got some of the short bread home, which was just too good to be true. Need to crack that recipe. Dulce de leche and chocolate, quite a magical combo.

If your too busy with other stuff, on thursday’s Eetwinkel Geniet offers a good take away meal (vegetarian, fish or meat) for about 8 to 9 euros. Sounds reasonable right!

Good to know that their sambal Jansen is a huge thing. Made with a ancient family recipe and very popular. We got to taste it and I just couldn’t help myself and reserved a jar for me to take home. I know what I’ll be snacking on this afternoon. Perfect to dip my shrimp crackers in.
